BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Jeff MacLeod
Dr. MacLeod completed a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Dalhousie University and predoctoral residency in Calgary, AB. He has worked for the IWK Health Centre for several years with youth who have disruptive behavior disorders and/or mental health problems, and justice-involved youth. He has also offered general mental health services to children, teens, and adults both during his training and in private practice. He completed a portion of his training in an Operational Stress Injury (OSI) Clinic and enjoys working with members or veterans of the Canadian Forces, RCMP, police, and other first responders.
Dr. MacLeod uses evidence-based approaches to treatment. His preferred approaches are primarily cognitive-behavioral, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Other approaches may be used for specific disorders, such as Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD.
Dr. MacLeod currently works at Turnstone Psychology two to three days per week.
Areas of Practice
Dr. Jeff MacLeod works with school-aged children, adolescents, and adults. He offers the following services:
- Diagnostic and treatment services for a variety of mental health problems, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and acute/chronic stress
- Diagnostic assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD ) and Attention-deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Dr. MacLeod also provides treatment services for individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders
- Diagnostic assessment of intellectual and learning disabilities (Psychoeducational Assessment)
- Treatment of challenging behaviors related to disruptive, impulse-control, and conduct disorders
